
History of the Bahamas
Even though Christopher Columbus was the person who discovered the Bahamas. the first people that were at the islands were the Lucayans, who are Arawakan-speaking Taino people.
The colonial history was early English settlement. For a long time, a lot of people believed that The Bahamas weren't colonized until the 17th century. Also, in 1648 there was a group from Bermuda called 'The Company of Adventurers for the Plantation of the Islands of Eleutheria." This group was led by William Sayle. They sailed to the Bahamas to found a colony.
English settlement began on the islands during the English Civil War era. Differences in religions in England had resulted to fighting. In fact, there were two ships full of faithful, religious protesters that left Bermuda to look at and investigate the Bahamas to decide if these certain islands would make a good place to live so they could worship who they wanted to.
Lastly, one of the most stable countries, in political terms, in the world are the Bahamas. Their constitution is based on a lot of things. For instance, it’s based on The Executive Branch, The Judicial Branch, and The Legislative Branch. Additionally, the Parliament organizes their Legislative Branch, which is also has a House of Assembly and a Senate. The Parliament is very helpful. They might make laws for a calm environment, order, and also great government.
